Senior Portrait Tips for Letting Your Personality Shine

Senior year is kind of a big deal. You’re about to graduate high school and head into your next big adventure—and that deserves to be celebrated in style! Senior portraits are the perfect way to mark this major milestone. Not only will your parents and grandparents love them (they totally will), but you’ll also have awesome photos to share with your friends and post on social media.

When we photograph seniors, our goal is to capture you. Your style. Your energy. Your personality. Your senior photos should feel like you—because they’re all about who you are and everything you’ve accomplished.

Wear What Makes You Feel Like You

Sure, we’ll grab a few formal shots for mom, but I always encourage seniors to wear clothes they feel amazing in. Your favorite jeans, that hoodie you practically live in, or the dress you feel unstoppable in—if it makes you feel confident, bring it! When you’re comfortable, it shows in your photos.

📌 Pro tip: Skip bold graphic tees (unless it’s your senior shirt or something school-related). They can distract from the real star of the show: YOU.Accessorize Your Personality

Accessories can totally level up your senior portraits. Whether it’s your go-to necklace, a cool hat, or those sneakers that never leave your feet, little details can make your photos feel so personal. Got a signature look or a jacket you never go anywhere without? Bring it. This session is all about capturing your vibe.

Show Off What You Love

Let’s tell your story. If you’re into sports, bring your uniform or gear. If you’re in band, bring your instrument. Into painting, photography, gaming, or dance? Let’s highlight that! Senior portraits are the perfect chance to showcase what makes you you. Props and personal touches add that next-level meaning to your session.

Celebrate Your Wins

You’ve worked hard—so let’s show it off! Bring your letterman jacket, club pins, honor cords, or anything else that reflects your high school accomplishments. From National Honor Society to FFA to drama club, your senior photos should celebrate all the things you’ve been a part of over the years.

Pick Locations That Match Your Style

The backdrop matters. Whether you’re all about wide-open fields and golden sunlight or you prefer a downtown vibe with brick walls and murals, let’s find a location that fits your personality. Talk to your photographer (hey, that’s me!) about the places you love. I’ve got some favorite spots too, and together we’ll create something totally unique.

Relax, Have Fun, Be You

The best senior portraits happen when you’re just being yourself. So laugh, move, dance, strike a pose—or don’t! This is your time to shine, and we’ll make sure your photos feel true to who you are and what this moment means.
